TRANS’SEFARAD

TRANS’SEFARAD - Sephardic impressions
In the program we will hear Sephardic songs in new, modern arrangements, which refer to the ethno-jazz trend. In the arrangement one can hear the mixture of different musical worlds: from ancient and ethno music through classical music till jazz and intuitive music.

Anna Riveiro sings in the original language of Sephardic Jews called ladino and uses techniques similar to ancient and folk singing practices. In contrast, the guitarists Marcin Olak and Michal Pindakiewicz play in a very open, improvised way based on modern harmony. This improvisation changes depending on the needs and context – sometimes it is only an ornament to the melody, but on other occasions the improvisation resembles jazz and after a while it turns even into intuitive music…

Sometimes the vocalist joins the musicians in the improvisation using a sound, a word, a whisper…. and this way the narration of an emotional story included in beautiful, Sephardic songs goes on.

The virtuosity of the musicians and the vocal artistry of the singer guarantee a truly exceptional musical performance.
